Steve was an entrepreneur from the start. When he was 16, he was playing in a rock n roll band all over Dayton. He started giving guitar lessons for extra money.
In 1984, while still in school, he was an apprentice for a heating and air company.
In 1986, after starting a family, he decided to follow in his father’s footsteps and started his own company, “Chrismer Quality Carpet Cleaning”. During which time he still worked full time in heating and air, while growing the carpet cleaning business.
In 1989, after working for another heating and air company and being unsatisfied with their work quality, Steve started Drake Heating and Air.
In 1991, Drake Heating and Air grew to such a level that it forced Steve and Julie to make a tough decision. That decision was to sell “Chrismer Quality Carpet Cleaning”, giving him the opportunity to devote all of his time and effort to Drake Heating and Air.
In 1995, Drake moved to West Alexandria. This gave them the opportunity to expand and acquire other companies within the area. Drake purchased “Fultz Heating and Air” in 1995. Drake Heating and Air continued to grow and decided to expand outside the Preble County area, servicing the entire Miami Valley.
In 1999, Drake acquired “State Air Systems” located in Springfield.
In 2002, Drake acquired “4 Seasons Heating and Air”, also in Springfield. At this time those acquisitions brought annual sales to over 2.25 million.
In 2005 by promoting internally, Drake named Keith Moody, a long time employee, to Installation/Sales Director and Sherry Loveless to Operation Manager.
In 2006 Drake bought a “Eaton local” appliance store called Bowman’s. Adding Appliance Service and Repair has helped build our client base.
As an expanding company, in 2009, we have not only grown to over $4 million a year in Installation, Service, and Repair for Heating, Air Conditioning, and Appliances, but we have also moved to our newest location to better serve our clients. Drake Home Services performs over 600 installations and over 9000 service calls per year. Every member of Drake’s Staff is “DrakeWashed”. Our company’s philosophy….Clients 1st….Team Members 2nd….Company 3rd…. When in question always revert back to NUMBER 1.
